Graf von Brühl learned the insurance business from scratch. After
having completed his traineeship with Bayerische Beamten Versicherung
in Munich, he started up in building the insurance broker firm Hoesch
& Partner GmbH in Frankfurt in 1985. The last position he held
in that firm was that of a "Prokurist" (officer with statutory
authority). In 1995 he founded the insurance broker firm GRAF BRÜHL
Versicherungsmakler GmbH, whose managing partner he is today. Mauritius
Graf von Brühl is married, has four grown up children and lives
Mauritius Graf von Brühl grew up in a family of diplomats. He
was born in Marseille in 1960. After a stay in Accra, Ghana, he attended
Eaton House School, a primary school in London, from 1965 to 1969.
Stays in Bonn and Brussels followed. He took his "Abitur"
(International Baccalaureat) finals for university entry qualification
at the German School in Brussels in 1979. After his officer training
in the German forces he left the Army, having attained
the rank of Reserve captain.
Graf Brühl engages in a large variety of voluntary work. As for
example, he is heading the working group Brokers' Law in the "Bundesverband
mittelständischer Versicherungs- und Finanzmakler" (Federal
Association of Small and Medium-Sized Insurance and Finance Brokers),
and he is a member of the board of trustees of the Maltese Clinic
in Bad Brückenau.
